Best paper award (2015) from Emerald’s journal, Program: electronic library and information systems
The paper “Negation Detection and Word Sense Disambiguation in Digital Archaeology Reports for the purposes of Semantic Annotation” (Andreas Vlachidis and Doug Tudhope) published in Program: electronic library and information systems 2015 Vol 49(2), (pages 118-134) was selected by the journal’s editorial team as the Outstanding Paper in the 2016 Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence. As a result, the paper will be freely available for one year.
The detection of negated statements and negative findings is crucial for the accurate application of automatic natural language processing methods. The paper reports on work specific to the digital archaeology field, building on Andreas PhD research.
